In a statement on Thursday evening, Jan. 11, Eversource representatives said they are currently making preparations for a storm system predicted to arrive on Friday night, Jan. 12, and continue into Saturday, Jan. 13.
The storm may bring wind gusts of around 25 to 35 miles per hour, which has the potential to cause widespread outages. This could be made worse by the already-saturated ground from previous storms, which can weaken trees and make them more likely to fall, officials said.
To prepare for the expected outages, Eversource is pre-staging crews in the areas where the worst damage is expected. Additionally, the utility provider is making sure it has extra utility poles, wires, transformers and other equipment in position for needed repairs.
Eversource is also sharing tips with customers on how to best prepare for the storm, including downloading the company's app to view and report outages as well as to sign up for alerts.
Customers can call Eversource during the storm at 800-286-2000.
"No matter what Mother Nature has in store for us for the rest of this week, we’ll be ready to respond," Eversource representatives said.
